4K 8K HDR IP Video Technology

At ChyronHego, I have been leading the technology adoption of new video standards and paradigms.  I have performed the evaluation, selection, and integration of video frame buffer cards for the company's global range of products. 
 

4k, 8K and High Dynamic Range Video 

Working closely with our major television broadcasting clients, I have been involved in the specification and initial implementations of 4k video, 8K projects, HDR integration, and some of the first HDR live productions for both  golf  coverage and the Olympics.
 
HDR is one of this decade's most significant advances in video technology.  4K is a great feature, but to the average consumer sitting on their couch, 4K vs. up-scaled HD would be undetectable.  While 4K may be a great way to sell new televisions, HDR actually brings real value to the viewer.  A High Dynamic Range broadcast to a properly equipped home will bring a much richer viewing experience.  To this point, we held an impressive, collaborative demo with SONY at the 2017 National Association of Broadcasters conference extolling the benefits of HDR for broadcasters.
 
To best assist our engineers and others in understanding HDR technology and how it relates to broadcast video, I collected a large amount of background information and crafted the following document:

I have been involved with IP video since we first integrated NDI streaming video into our line of broadcast graphics systems back in 2013.  We were the first in our market vertical to do this.  Since then we have been working toward one of the industry's first real deployment of the yet to be finalized 2110 specification.
